When we first rolled out our 1-to-1 iPad initiative, things were not communicated very well. The Superintendent and other key players all knew what they wanted to see and how things could be different. Unfortunately, that message didn’t get across to the high school. As a result, they weren’t used and everything devolved to only Google Docs. Students really didn’t do anything but write papers, read PDFs, and watch videos.
As we are approaching the renewal of our iPad rollout, I have been working with our coaches and other training staff to help change the messaging and make it a much clearer message. So far things are starting to look up. So many of my conversations with administrators and others have included much of the work we have learned over the last several courses. At the moment, we have been leaning on the power of stories to help open the minds of some of our more stubborn folks. It is slowly working.
