Like the diagram here shows, one piece of info isn't a big deal. It's when it gets put together with another piece, that it starts to get troublesome. Floating out there is now your birthdate, DL and SS numbers, family members names, all of the addresses you've ever lived at, all of the cars you've owned and phone numbers you have ever had. Don't forget that social media has let loose your photos of pets (and their names), your favorite actives and foods, and every bank/credit account you have had. That's all it takes to get into your bank account or send you very convincing emails/phone calls to get access. Students, teachers, parents, and everyone else cannot afford to not pay close attention to all of this and take action.

Every idea and movement begins with a first step. This is my first step in helping people be just a little more safe in the world. My goal here is to give resources to teachers. First, for teachers to help themselves be a little safer in the digital environment. Second, for teachers to help their students learn and protect themselves. Finally, as a way to reach out to parents as well. Here goes.

Why this pageAs I started teaching a cyber security class this year, I kept thinking about all of the people who are not aware of many, if not most, of the security and privacy issues they need to be aware of in their life. This hopefully will fill part of that gap. ArchivesCategories |
